Key Concerns

There are several issues with the bill that will adversely impact Iowan’s ability to continue to access the safe, legal nonintoxicating products they rely on for health and wellness purposes as they do today.

The DEA announced it has started the process to reclassify cannabis to a Schedule 3 drug, recognizing its medical benefits.

The 2024 Farm Bill is currently being drafted and Congress has announced it will be making changes to the consumable hemp law. Iowa should wait to see what federal changes happen first.

Iowans who have been using this for years will no longer be able to access nonintoxicating consumable hemp products currently available due to the arbitrary packaging restrictions.

Iowa parents who have found and use full spectrum CBD as a therapy for their children would become criminals. No state in the country does this.

It legalizes intoxicating THC consumable hemp products. Right now, Iowa is the only state to do this, while others are limiting them.

The bill does the opposite of what the legislature intended to do, legalizing drinks and eliminating access to nonintoxicating products.

This moment is a testament to the influence of our collective efforts. Let's not underestimate the impact of our continued advocacy. By coming together, we can encourage Governor Reynolds to stand on the right side of history and veto HF2605.
